Each Membership that you create will have it’s own customizable Membership Options that are found under the visual editor on the Membership Edit page. The tabs available, and their associated options, are discussed in greater detail below. These are the specific tabs from the Membership options:
- Price Box
The Registration tab is used to configure settings that are directly related to the registration process for your membership. Here are the settings you will see:
Registration Button Text – Choose what you want the Registration Button to say that appears at the bottom of your registration form. Defaults to ‘Sign Up’.
This Membership is Tax Exempt – (Note: this option only appears if you have taxes enabled) check this option if you would like to make this membership tax exempt for whatever reason.
Enable custom thank you page message – check this option if you would like users who subscribe to this membership to see a special or different thank you message than your global one. Once enabled, it will reveal a simple Ideakit visual editor to enter your message.
Send Membership-Specific Welcome Email to User – check this option if you would like to send subscribers to this membership a custom welcome email. (Note: If you have a custom welcome email set here, then the default welcome email you have set in your Settings > Emails of MemberPress will NOT be sent to users of this membership.)
Edit – click this button and it will reveal a Ideakit visual editor to edit the custom welcome email for this membership.
Send Test – use this button to send a test email for this welcome email. Generic info will be filled by MemberPress and the email will be sent to the email entered in your Ideakit > Settings > General > Email Address field.
Reset to Default – clicking this button will reset any edits made to this email and restore it to it’s default.
Customize Payment Methods – checking this option will reveal a list of all your connected gateways in MemberPress and will give you the option to disable or activate any for this membership. Simply check the ones you would like to be available during registration, and uncheck those you don’t to hide them. You can also drag and drop from the checked gateways to select their order. Remember the one found at the top of the list will be the ‘selected by default’ option for your users. (Please note that this only works per-membership, so if you need to disable a specific gateway for all memberships, you need to use this setting on ALL your memberships.)
Customize User Information Fields – enabling this option will reveal a list of the available Custom User Information Fields you created and selected to show in the MemberPress Settings > Fields tab. You can use this to show or hide certain fields from this membership registration form. (Please note that this only works per-membership, so if you need to disable any fields for all memberships, you need to use this setting on ALL your memberships.)
Membership Shortcodes – clicking the link here will reveal the shortcodes available for this membership. Your options will look something like this:
Optional link label here… – You can use this shortcode anywhere on your site to quickly display a link to this membership page. If the text in between the shortcode is not present, MemberPress will use the membership title as the link text instead. Note: 123 will be replaced with your Memberships unique ID.
– This shortcode can be used on your membership edit page to manually place the registration form. This is useful if you would like to enter text either above or below the registration form on the auto-generated registration page.
– This shortcode can be used on any other Ideakit page, post or custom post type to manually place the registration form for this membership. Note: 123 will be replaced with your Memberships unique ID. IMPORTANT: When using this, you will most likely need to also enable the Global CSS option your Options > General of MemberPress to prevent errors from appearing on the form.
In this tab you’ll be able to set up permissions, or restrictions on who can and can’t purchase your Membership, along with what kind of message to show them should they not be able to purchase it.
Allow users to create multiple, active subscriptions to this membership – enable this option to allow any user to hold more than one active subscription to this membership. Note: This feature cannot be enabled when you have a one-time membership that expires and allows for renewals.
Who can purchase this Membership – here, you can set as many permissions as you would like, just use the plus symbol to add more. When creating a permission, first use the drop down to select from the following options:
Everyone – simply allow anyone, regardless of user or member status, to purchase this membership.
Guests – with this option selected, only new visitors to your site, or logged out users (since the only way possible to check this is if the user is logged out) will be able to purchase this membership.
Members – selecting this option will reveal another two drop downs with the following options of who can purchase this membership:
Who currently have – Select this if your permission needs to be associated with the presence of a particular membership OR for users who have never purchased a membership.
no memberships – only users who have never purchased any membership before.
any membership – only users who have purchased any membership before.
subscribed to this membership before – only users who have purchased this membership before.
NOT subscribed to this membership before – only users who have not purchased this membership before
[membership-name] – any published membership you have created will appear following the above options. The membership you select will be the only membership that will be able to purchase this membership.
Who had – Select this if your permission needs to be associated with the absence of a particular membership or memberships.
any membership – only users who have purchased any previous membership. They will only be able to purchase this membership for which this permission is set if their previous membership is inactive at the time of purchase.
[membership-name] – any published membership you have created will appear following the above options. The membership you select will make it so the user can only purchase this membership if they had this specific membership in the past (meaning that it is inactive at the time of purchase of the membership for which this permission is set).
No One – with this permission, no one at all will be able to purchase this membership.
No permissions message – use the Ideakit visual editor here to create a customizable message that can be used to show a custom message to users when they attempt to purchase a membership they don’t have access to based on your permissions. The message set will display either when the user (1) is blocked by permissions or, (2) has already purchased the membership. For number two, the Membership Access URL can be used to modify the message to “You’ve already subscribed to this item, click here to access it,” where the underlined section will become a link to that membership’s access URL you have set.
Here you can configure what info the price box will include on the group page. For more info on this along with some helpful tips, please check out the Groups page of our User Manual. The options found in this tab of the options are explained as follows:
Preview – here you will be able to see what your price box will look like, minus the CSS applied set in your Pricing Page Theme setting on the Group edit page. (Note: you may need to save your changes with the membership’s ‘Update’ button to see the changes here.)
Highlighted – check this option to make this a Highlighted membership on the Group Pricing Page. This makes it stand-out from the other listed memberships with some simple CSS.
Title – defaults to the name of your membership, but can be edited here.
Pricing Display – use the drop down menu here to determine how the price will be displayed on the pricing table for this membership. Your option are:
Auto – MemberPress will create the price display based on your membership’s pricing terms.
Custom – selecting this will reveal a box where you can enter your own pricing display (e.g. “Just three easy payments of $21.99”).
None – select this option if you would like no price whatsoever to display for this pricing box.
Heading Text – anything entered here will appear above your ‘Benefits’ section, but below the membership name and price.
Benefits – here you can create an ordered list of benefits. Use the ‘plus’ symbol to create more lines, the “x” symbol to delete an undesired benefit, or click in the empty space of an option to drag and drop to customize the order.
Footer Text – anything entered here will appear below the ‘Benefits’ section, but above the ‘Button Text’ (unless you have the button set to appear in the header.
Button Text – use the box here to enter any text for this pricing box’s sign up button. Defaults to ‘Sign up’.
Button Position – use this drop down to select the position of the button for this pricing box. Your options are: Footer, Header, or Both. Defaults to Footer.
Membership Access URL – when a URL is set here, the name of this membership will be clickable and link to this URL. This includes on the members account page.
Membership Pricing Terms – use this drop down to select what you would like users to see as the pricing terms on your registration page for this membership. You can chose from the following options:
Default – MemberPress will create the price format based on your membership’s pricing terms.
Custom – selecting this will reveal a box where you can enter your own pricing display on the registration form (e.g. “Just three easy payments of $21.99”).
Hidden – select this option if you would like no price whatsoever to display on the registration page.
Custom Login Redirect URLs – by default MemberPress will redirect members to the login redirect set in your MemberPress > Settings > Account tab. This will allow you to override that default behavior and customize it in the following ways for this membership:
Default Login Redirect URL – if the user has an active subscription to this membership, upon login they will be sent to the URL set here.
Add Custom Login Redirect URLs – here you can set a redirect for your users with active subscriptions to this membership, to different URLs based on how many times they have already logged in.
One example of using this would be if you wanted to show upsell pages to members on their 3rd and 6th logins. This would be done by setting a URL to send the member to when they login for the 3rd time and again on the 6th time.
Note – this feature does not work if your users have more than one active subscription at a time. The redirect chosen will be random. For that reason, we recommend that this feature be used in conjunction with a MemberPress Group that has the “upgrade path” feature enabled (so that they can only have one active membership at a time).
Subscribers to this Membership are Corporate Accounts – (requires that you have the Corporate Accounts addon installed and activated) use this setting to make this membership a corporate membership. When a new user subscribes to this corporate account membership (often called parent account), they will be able to grant access to other users under their access (often called child accounts). After you check this, you will see this option:
Max Sub-accounts – enter any number here to specify the max amount of sub-accounts (or child accounts) that can be added under subscribers of this membership (or parent accounts).
[Email Marketing Add-on Per-Membership Option] – (requires that you have installed and activated an email marketing add-on that supports per-membership lists or tags) after you have properly configured your email marketing add-on on the MemberPress > Settings > Marketing tab, this option will appear. Upon checking this option, you will be able to select your per-membership list or tag for this membership. Note: only created lists or tags from your email marketing solution will appear here.
User Roles for this Membership – (requires that you have the User Roles add-on installed and activated) check this option to reveal a list of all valid User Roles available to you. Hold the Control Key (Command Key on the Mac) in order to select or deselect multiple roles. When a user’s subscription becomes inactive on any Memberships, their Role will go back to the Role you have set in your Ideakit > Settings > General page. Please click the User Roles add-on link above to learn more about how this add-on works.
